Each session begins with a check in, safety lesson and grounding. We will work to develop relationship with self, each other and the donkeys. Each session differs based on the goals and needs of the client as well as the donkeys on that day. The interactions with the donkeys will vary each session and for each person. If your comfort level is to talk to or observe the donkeys through the fence this can be a very profound experience. You do not need to have a direct contact with the donkeys to reap the benefits of a session.

A session may include: observing, grooming, talking to, leading around property or working in the arena. It is important to note that the sessions are not jam packed with activities and are fluid. This allows us to flow with what comes up. It is also about “being” and not “doing.” We will end with gratitude and a debriefing/goal setting before parting ways.

INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS

THE FAMILY CONNECTION

The Family Connection includes a 4-6-person family, with options for grooming, leading or talking to the donkeys. These can also include the reading and discussion of therapeutic children’s books about another herd of horses relating to themes of grief and loss, split parenting or foster/adoption, guilt, shame, unconditional love and grace, perfectionism, forgiveness, and frustration.

Spending time with animals can help children boost self-confidence, as well as building compassion and empathy. This is an opportunity for some quality family time in nature. These will begin with grounding and safety lesson, and conclude with gratitude.
